Burnbrae Farms

Burnbrae Family Photo

Burnbrae Farms is a 6th generation family owned and operated Canadian company that has been producing eggs for over 75 years. With egg grading, breaking, and farming operations in five provinces across Canada, Burnbrae Farms has been privately owned and operated by the Hudson family since the original farm was purchased in Lyn, Ontario in 1891.

They are dedicated to animal welfare and the promotion of sustainable agriculture systems that provide consumers with safe, affordable food and a good quality of life for the laying hens in our care. Today, Burnbrae Farms eggs and egg products can be found in local grocery stores, restaurants, food-service operations and homes across Canada. They’ve come a long way from their roots in the village of Lyn, but the employees of Burnbrae Farms and the Hudson family remain dedicated to offering high quality and nutritious food to communities nationwide.

Newcom Media Inc.

Newcom Family Image

Today Newcom is one of Canada’s largest B2B media companies, thanks to the entrepreneurship and family style leadership and focus of the Glionna Family.

With over 30 years in business, Newcom links its roots all the way back to 1940 when current President Joe Glionna’s grandfather Al Glionna became publisher of Maclean Hunter’s Bus & Truck Transport (B&TT) magazine. 2 years after Al’s retirement his son Jim Glionna got a job at Wadham Publishing Co. as a salesman on Motor Truck – a direct competitor of the book Al once published. Jim rose rapidly through the ranks and in 1976 was offered a partnership in the firm. In 1987, three years after Wadham was sold to Southam Communications, Jim decided to go his own way, launching two new trucking magazines (Today’s Trucking and Truck & Trailer), which became the foundation of Newcom. In 2014, Southam’s entire Business Information Group (BIG) came up for sale. The resulting acquisition (a joint venture with Annex Business Media) added $20 million to Newcom’s revenue. Despite the instant growth, Joe was committed to maintaining a close family-style personal management relationship between employees and owners.
