Dr. Francesco Barbera is the Founding Academic Director of the Family Business Institute and an Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship and Strategy at Toronto Metropolitan University. He is an award-winning educator and internationally published scholar whose work focuses on family enterprise, entrepreneurship, succession, governance, and next-generation development. For more than a decade, Francesco’s work has spanned Canada, Australia, and the United States, where he has helped build family business education programs for students, practitioners, and enterprising families. He also serves on the Editorial Board of Family Business Review and provides professional training for family business advisors through leading international organizations.

As Managing Editor of Canadian Family Offices, Joe Chidley oversees editorial content for the only media outlet in the country dedicated entirely to family offices and the ecosystem that surrounds them. Joe’s extensive career in journalism and communications includes stints as columnist at the Financial Post and editor-in-chief of Postmedia Content Works; as senior writer and associate publisher of Maclean’s magazine; as senior vice-president at a leading Canadian public relations firm, and nearly a decade as editor of Canadian Business magazine. Joe holds a B.A. and an M.A. in English literature from Western University.
