FBN Canada – The 2020 Edelman Trust Barometer: Insights into Global Family Businesses
October 20, 2020 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm EDT
Implications for Family Business report shows a moment of reckoning for family businesses. Although family business remains more trusted than non-family business around the world (82% vs 79%), family business employees still view their employer as falling short on expectations. More than half (51%) of family business employees agree that their employers are not meeting the challenges of the pandemic with expected levels of competence. For example: compared to non-family businesses, family business employees are more concerned about job loss due to the pandemic (66% vs 58%), automation, and globalization (86% vs 81%). During the pandemic, one factor family business employees and non-family business employees agree on (59%) – to increase trust, business must redefine the company’s purpose and goals around the mission of fighting the pandemic. As we settle into the recovery phase of the pandemic, care for employees and the larger community is top of mind for employees, investors and other stakeholders.
